On December 31, 2020, Walter Turner 64, departed his life here on earth to eternal life at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia.  Walter resided at 313 Gray Avenue, Waverly VA.  Walter was born June 2, 1957 to the late James Turner and Mamie Turner.

He was preceded in death by his one sister, Betty T. Bates: five brothers, Carlton Turner, Tyrone Turner, Robert K. Turner, Robert L. Turner, James Turner Jr and one brother-in-law Sidney Gwaltney.

Walter was educated through Sussex County Public Training School.  He was employed by Grey Lumber Company during his adulthood.  Walter enjoyed family, music and taking walks downtown "Where he called the Park".

Walter also leaves to cherish his memories his amazing wife Dorothy M. Turner of Waverly.  He loved his family.  He also leaves to cherish his memories five sisters, Zulean Turner (Melvin), Janice Jones (Mack), Ethel Gwaltney (Sidney), Gloria Johnson (Collin) all of Waverly, and Laverne Turner of Richmond; eight brothers, Ernest L. Turner (Gladys), Leon Turner (Tasha), Herbert Turner all of Waverly, Junius Turner, Aaron Turner, Leroy Turner all of Richmond, Joe L. Garrett of Fairfax, VA and Oscar Turner of Lawrenceville, VA.  He also leaves to cherish his memories two devoted friends Kathleen Coleman and Phillip Murphy.  A host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Graveside will be 2:00pm, Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Waverly Cemetery Spring Branch Road, Waverly, VA.
