Obituary

Vivian C. Green of 920 Covington Court Waverly, Virginia entered eternal rest on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Bon Secours-Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia. Vivian was born on December 20, 1953, to the late James P. and Elsie P. Green in Waverly, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents James P. Green and Elsie P. Green, maternal grandparents Richard Perry and Lucy Perry and paternal grandparents William B. Green and Fannie Green; brothers Carsey Green and James Wilkins, Jr.; sisters Gladys E. Green, Janet Smith, and Diana Wilkins; nephew Antonio T. Green all whom she loved dearly.

Vivian accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church in Waverly, Virginia.

Vivian was a 1972 graduate of Sussex Central High School, Sussex, Virginia. After graduating high school, she was employed at Masonite Corporation in Waverly, Virginia. Vivian also worked in the Hospitality Industry in Williamsburg, Virginia, and was last employed with Phoenix-N-Peace in Waverly, Virginia for many years where she made many long-lasting friendships with her co-workers. In addition to the jobs that Vivian worked, she was committed to taking exceptional care of Ms. Jezebelle Rose until her passing, who was the mother of the love of her life the late Novell Williams. Vivian also helped to care for Ms. Geraldine Parker despite her own health challenges during that time. Vivian truly displayed how having great compassion for someone will allow you to make great sacrifices for them.

In her leisure time, Vivian enjoyed playing cards and slot machines, going out to eat, and dancing. Vivian had a great sense of humor, she also enjoyed telling old stories and making you laugh.  Vivian also had a unique sense of style because nobody could wear a hat turned up in the front like her, that was her signature style.

Vivian leaves to cherish her memories a devoted and loving brother who was more like a father to her James L. Green (Lisa) of Copperas Cove, TX; two loving nieces who were like daughters to her Rhoda Wake of Chester, Virginia and Deloris Ricks of Waverly, Virginia who was devoted to caring for her on a daily basis; two beloved great nephews who she cared for like sons Larry Lewis of Emporia, Virginia and Marcus Green of Waverly, Virginia and their children whom she adored Rashard Lewis, Ryun Lewis, JaKai Green and Skylar Lewis; Rhoda's children her great nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly Kermic Green (Melissa) of Woodland Hills, California, Quentin Parker (Belisha) of Waverly, Virginia, Melissa Green of Enon, Virginia, Sharona Green of Richmond, Virginia and Kristonta Jones of Chesterfield, Virginia; beloved brother Walter Wilkins (Terri) of Waverly, Virginia; loving sisters Ernestine Mason (Curtis), Ophelia Wilkins (Alphonso), Glenice Felts (Titus), Barbara Jackson (Leonard), Alfreda Wilkins and Fannie Wilkins all of Waverly, Virginia;  special brother in-law Willie Smith of Prince George, Virginia; a dearly beloved aunt who called her daily Ellen Dugger of Washington, DC; beloved nephews Pastor Terrence L. Green, Sr. (Tanisha) of Waverly, Virginia and Pastor Troy Nevells(Diane) of Providence, North Carolina; beloved great nieces and nephews Shakeen Croker of Suffolk, Virginia, Keyera Murphy of Chester, Virginia, Tayjah Green, Tanea Green and Terrence Green Jr., all of Waverly, Virginia, and Khalil Green of Dinwiddie, Virginia, Gabrielle Nevells of Providence, North Carolina, Miguel Nevells (Tiffany) of Greensboro, North Carolina; devoted cousins who ensured that she was good Evangelist Barbara Gray, Linda Perry and Marvin Smith; devoted and loving neighbors who looked out for her Walter Jones, Helen Lankford, Loretta Luster and Sue Murphy; her close friends who she made a lot of fond memories with Melissa Barrow, Joselyn "Tootie" Brice, Clementine Butts, Angela Person, Hope Pierce, Sam Jones and Tommy Simms and a host of relatives and friends that she loved.

Vivian will forever be in the hearts of her family and friends and will be truly missed by them all.

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00pm Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Empowerment Temple 219 N. County Drive, Waverly, Virginia,  Elder Terence L. Green Sr., Pastor.  Interment will follow immediately at Waverly Cemetery, Spring Branch Road, Waverly, Virginia.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, April 14, 2023, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.
