Obituary

Virginia L. Crocker , known to many as "Mama Gin and Sugar."  Virginia Crocker was born to the late Samuel Brown and Bertha Lee Brown in Sussex County. She has been a longtime member of Mars Hill A.M.E. Zion church.  She held the positions of Deaconess and Class Leader.

She worked at the Peanut Shelter in Wakefield, Gwaltney Meat Packing Plant in Smithfield, The Navy Public Work Center at Fort Lee, and The Food Service in Portsmouth.  She worked as a "Nanny" for Robin and Todd Scarborough in Wakefield and as a foster Grand-Parent at Chambliss Elementary School.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, husband, and son (Alvin).

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Ernestine Brock of Surry and Ruby Allen of Wakefield. One brother, Samuel L. Brown of Wakefield. 13 grand-children: Vonda Turner (Joseph), George Brock (Mae), Jacquline Scott (Fred), Andrew Brock (Vivian), Vanessa Moses (James), Juanita Stanton, Wendy Thomas (Anthony), Kima Pretlow, Letitia Hinton, Taineka Richardson (Tony), Orlando Gatling, Toby Crocker, and Tabiatha Atkins; 38 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren, one Niece: Brendolyn Williams, Cousins, a special cousin "the Gatling girl", Yvonne Ricks. Friends and extended church family.

Graveside Celebration of Life will be 11:00am Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Booker T. Memorial Park, Wakefield, Virginia.
