God sent his angels to 214 Coppahaunk Ave. Waverly, VA. on September 14,2020 to bring Deacon Vincent A. Thomas to him for eternal peace. Deacon Thomas was born on August 23, 1949 to the late Thelma Bridgeforth Thomas and James Edward Thomas, Jr. Vincent was affectionately known to his family and friends as Tiger, Booger, Shorty, and "Bro". He is preceded in death by his brothers John Thomas and John Scott.
Vincent was educated in the Sussex County public school system. He was a construction worker, employed at Gray Lumber Company and Spurlock for over 10 years. Vincent delivered newspapers for the Progress Index and retired after 15 years.
Vincent was a faithful member of First Baptist church, Waverly until his health declined. He served on the deacon board, sung in the choir, was the president of the usher board, and most of all he loved the Lord and talking to people. Vincent joined the Waverly male community mass choir two years ago.
Vincent leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Susie G. Thomas, 1 son Steven Thomas(April), 4 daughters, Roslyn Reed of New York, Lisa Butler (Daniel) of Prince George, Catina Garrett, Latoya Williams (Marcellus) of Waverly, VA. Vincent and Susie raised 1 granddaughter Victoria Brown (Vincent) of Chesterfield, and 1 grandson, Virgil Garrett of Waverly. Vincent had 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren and 1 loving goddaughter, Bre'Khaia Wooden. Vincent also leaves behind 6 sisters, Rebecca T. Bates, Vallie Barrow (Ernest), Jannie Ellis, and Greta Jones (Thomas, Jr.), all of Waverly; Sylvia Thomas of Hopewell and Brenda Wilson of Williamsburg, 1 brother James E. Thomas III of Waverly, 1 sister-in-law Rosa Garrett, and two brothers-in-law Larry Garrett, Sr. (Tealena) and William Garrett of Waverly, 2 aunts, Mrs. Lucy Thomas and Mrs. Addie Parham of Waverly, 1 uncle, David Bolling (Virginia) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, 3 devoted friends, James Ricks, Jr. (Greasy), Peter Bates, and Ernest Barrow of Waverly, VA.
