Surrounded by family, Villard Jean-Joseph, Sr., transitioned to eternal rest on October 2, 2020.
Villard was born on May 3, 1940, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to the late Francois and Luce Jean-Joseph. He was a loving and devoted husband to Francis E. Chambliss Jean-Joseph for 52 years.
Villard received his college education from Simon Bolivar University in Haiti. He lived and worked in New York City for more than 45 years with Wells Fargo Bank (15 years) and with Ruane, Cunniff & Co. Inc. (30 years). After retiring, Villard relocated to Prince George, VA with his wife and family.
He was a devoted member of Convent Avenue Baptist Church in New York for many years and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Prince George after moving to Virginia. Villard was an avid reader, loved soccer and action-adventure movies.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Francois and Luce Jean-Joseph; son, Villard Jean Joseph, Jr; daughter, Angela D. Gaymon; sister, Gladys Jean-Joseph; and two brothers, Claude Jean-Joseph and Fritz Jean-Joseph.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Francis E. Jean-Joseph of Prince George, VA; daughter, Terri Davis of Prince George, VA; one brother, Search Jean-Joseph of Miami, FL; one sister, Paulette Jean-Joseph of New York City, NY; three grandsons, Wesley Davis of Dover, DE; Andre Jean-Joseph of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; and Tyler Davis of Prince George, VA; three sisters-in-law, Greta Jean-Joseph of Queens, NY, Helen Shaw of Piscataway, NJ, and Lillian (Alfredo) Dupree of Tampa, FL; three brothers-in-law, Emmitt Chambliss of Waverly, VA, Bishop Jacob (Lucy) Chambliss of Baltimore, MD, and Robert (Joyce) Chambliss of Baltimore, MD, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the Bon Secours Hospice team, Laura, Ellen, and Steve.
Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be 11:00am, Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Booker T. Memorial Park, Terrapin Swamp Road, Wakefield, Virginia.
