Vandra L. Walker was born to the late Bertha and Elmore S. Burgess Dr., December 24, 1948, in Emporia, Virginia.  She graduated from Central High School in 1968. Vandra Married William B. Walker in 1968 and from this union Audrea N. and Tracy Walker were born.

Vandra worked at Waverly Health and Rehabilitation Center until retirement.  She was affiliated with Rose of Sharon Apostolic Church, Waverly, VA.  She also sang for several years with the gospel group, Sam Jones and the Harmoneers.

Vandra was predeceased by her mother and father, three sisters,   Shirley Walker of Emporia, VA, Irene Burgess, and Dora Smith, one brother,  Elbert Burgess of Waverly, VA.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband William "Bolling" Walker, one daughter, Audrea Walker; son, Tracy Walker all of Waverly, VA; one grandson, RaShawn Burgess and one great-granddaughter,  Mahogany S. Burgess of Petersburg, VA; one sister, Catherine Burgess-Moore of Washington, DC; two brothers, Randolph Burgess( Brenda) and Elmore Burgess( Judy) of Waverly, VA; four sisters-in-law, Pecola Hamlin, Erma Pryor, Francis Chapman, and Gloria Gaston all of New York; one brother-in-law, Paul Walker of Petersburg, VA and a host of nieces, nephews.
