Troy Spencer Petticolas, 69, of Waverly, VA entered eternal rest on April 15, 2024, at Bon Secour Southside Medical Center. Troy was born on September 3, 1954, to the late Augustus Allen Petticolas Sr and the late Annie Lee Warren Petticolas. He was born and raised in Wakefield, VA, and attended and graduated from Sussex County Public Schools in 1973.
As a high school student, Troy led the marching band as the drum major, where he loved to see the crowd have a good time. His love for music and a good time led him to be a disc jockey, he was known as D.J. TSP. Troy was also a smart and skilled worker, which led to great career opportunities such as the Shipyard in Newport News, VA, and Parham Welding in Waverly, VA.
Troy loved to take rides through the country roads, listening to music, and watching westerns. Most of all Troy loved his family and he was dearly loved. He was also caring, light-hearted, and helpful to those he encountered.
He was preceded in death by his parents Augustus Allen Petticolas Sr and Annie Lee Warren Petticolas; brother, Earnest Linwood Petticolas; and sisters, Annie Lee Petticolas and Linda Darnell Harris.
Troy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mayvis Lee Petticolas; 3 children, Anthony Gray, Lamar Petticolas (Haadia), and Whitney Bolling (LaQuinn); 8 grandchildren, Dominique, Daniel, Jourdon, Amir, Nasir, Amya, Giada, and Kingston; great-grandchild, Caleb; sister, Warren Johnson and brothers Augustus Petticolas Jr (Christine) and Samuel Petticolas. Along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends to include his best friend Brenda Turner.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Peace Funeral Home in Waverly, VA, with Pastor Robert Gay Sr, Officiating, and Elder Tamara Gay, Eulogist.
