On Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend entered eternal rest.
Thelma was born in Southampton County, VA on July 23, 1937 to the late Henry and Elsie Gray. At an early age she was baptized and joined Union Hill UCC and Later joined Pocahontas Temple Baptist Church. She attended Sussex County Public Schools. She retired from Patrick Henry Inn, Williamsburg, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Bain, Sr., grandson Clinton Bain,Jr.,one great-grandson Tyquan Johnson,son-in-law Edward Warren,Jr., siblings Paige Gray, Alice Gray,Carrie Brown, Charles Gray and Joe Gray.Thelma loved people and was a great joy to be around. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, playing bingo and the great outdoors.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Steve Jones (Howard), Clarence Bain, Jr. (Audrey) both of Wakefield and Annie Warren of Surry, VA. A daughter-in-law, Darlene Bain and God-daughter Dorothy M. Gay both of Wakefield. Her devoted sisters Lora Bailey (Herbert) and Dorothy R. Gay both of Wakefield. One brother, Robert Gray (Sandra) of Tampa, Florida. Two sister-in-laws Linda Gray of Wakefield and Eunice Gray of Waverly. Her grandchildren: Katina White, Tunisha Jones (RonLee), Bryon Bain (Kim), Terrance Bain (Nancy), Edricco Bain (devoted), Irhonda Ricks, Clarence Ricks, Jr., Chevon King, Rodriques Turner, Rucel White, Colette Turner (devoted) and Ashley King. The god-grandchildren: Tyquesha Gay, Ty'Shad Skipper, Ty'Rod Skipper and Trevon Skipper. She also leaves thirty great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special care-giver, Danyelle Benton.
Funeral services for Thelma M. Bain will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Pocahontas Temple, 10234 Branch Street, Wakefield, VA. Interment will follow at the Booker T. Memorial Cemetery, Wakefield, VA.
