On Monday, October 11, 2021, Stella Mae Brown entered eternal rest peacefully at her home in Waverly, Virginia. She was a native of Surry County, Virginia.

Stella was a member of Mars Hill AME Zion Church in Wakefield, Virginia where she was a faithful member for many years. She served on the Deaconess Board, Women's Ministry, Missionary, and Usher Ministry. She loved her church family. Stella loved to dress and wear her fancy jewelry. She cherished and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Above all she loved God, family, traveling, and was a proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother to her family.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband Pernell Brown Sr., her sons Pernell Brown Jr and Wilbert L. Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Caroline Jones (Keith) of Waverly, Virginia, Virginia Mann (Noble) of Hopewell, Virginia, Mary Brown of Chester, Virginia, Catherine Everett (Ned) of Suffolk, Virginia, Dorothy M. Jones of Baltimore, Maryland; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, three nephews, many cousins, and devoted friends Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Mason, Ms. Viola Brown, Ms. Christine Hill, Mrs. Sandy Stringfield, and Ms. Amanda Gilliam. Her special babies were Tasha Owens, Denisha Hosey, Tamara Brown, Raquel Delk, Candance Wilkins, Sha'bron Threatt, DaQuan Gilliam, Sharana Gwaltney, Shakita Gwaltney, Alexus Scott, Nia Clark, and Keisha Bailey.

Public viewing will be 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.

Graveside Celebration will be 11:00 am Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Mount Moriah Church Cemetery, Route 35 (Jerusalem Plank Road) Waverly, Virginia, Rev. Joshua Walker, Eulogist.
