Sandra M. Ricks, 60 of 601 Railroad Avenue, Wakefield, VA went home to be with The Lord on Monday February 4, 2013 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA. She was born in Sussex County to Thelma Bain and the Lat Clarence Bain, Sr, on April 15, 1952.

Sandra received her education in the Sussex County Public School System, She held numerous jobs, her last being with Chip's Market before declining health.

She confessed Chritst a an early age, baptized and jointed Pocahontas Temple Baptist Church. She later rede dictated her life to Christ, was baptized and joined Highway Full Gospel Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA under the guidance and leadership of her beloved Bishop, Bishop Darren Gay, Sr. She was a member of the prayer team and and hospitality committee. Sandra loved her church and church family. Sandra had a quiet and humble spirit, always looking out for others. When visiting her, she didn't dwell on her illness, but on the goodness of Jesus. She loved kids and had a hand in raising many. She was a counselor to many, arms always stretched wide to receive those in need. Her home was considered the "Dew Drop Inn" for any child in need. Sandra enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, shopping, and going to yard sales.

Sandra leaves to cherish her fond memories: her childre, Irhona Ricks of Wakefield, Va., Clarence Ricks Jr. of Hopewell, Va. and Rucel White of Wakefild, Va; godson, Byron Bain (Kim) of Chesterfield, Va., Delmonte Turner and Ronald "Bubba" Jones both of Wakefield, Va.; her mother Thelma Bain of Wakefield, VA; to granddaughters, T'Asijah Ricks and Zaire Ricks; two sisters, Steve Jones (Howard) of Wakefield, Va and Annie Warren (Edward) of Surry, Va; two brothers, Clarence Bain, Jr. (Audrey) and Clinton Bain (Dalene) all of Wakefild, Va.; two aunts, Lora Bailey (Herbert) and Dorothy Gay (Fred) both of Wakefield, Va.; one uncle, Robert Gray (Sandra) of Tampa, Fl; a loving and devoted friend of over 27 years, Doris Saunders of Surry, Va., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Sister Ricks will be held 2 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Oak Grove Baptists Church, Wakefield, Va. Bishop Darren Gay officiating. Internment will follow in Booker T. Memorial.
