Deacon Samuel Lewis Jones Sr (Brewster), departed his life on Sunday, 6, 2013 at a favored age of 90. He was born on October 15, 1922, in Wavely Virginia to the proud parents, the late Reverend Alexander and Ida M. Jones.

Deacan Jones was married to the late Ida M. (Crocker) Jones. He received his education at Sussex County Training School. Deacon Jones served in the United Stated Navy during World War II. He was employed by Gray Lumber Company for many years until retirement, and he was a great diesel mechanic specialist.

He served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Senior Trustee at Zion Hill Holiness Church where he accepted Christ. Deacon Jones loved everybody, those that knew him as well as those he didn't know. He was a man that would never say "No"; and was always giving! He love to play with his guitar (Lucille), and to sing at churches in the surrounding area. Deacon Jones was well known for his song "The Train"; and was the founder of Samual Jones and the Harmoneers of Waverky, Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ida, brother Herman sister Grace Turner, and son Clinton Johns. He leaves cherishing his distinguished memories are 9 children; 4 daughter, Evangalist Joan Wyche (John) of Waverly, VA., Evangalist Alice Givens, Evangelist Jean Reynolds and Lenora McQueen  all of Washington, D.C.; 5 sons, Samuel Jones Jr, Elde Ernest Jones (Netra), Vernard Jones (Queen), Moses Jones (Robin), all of Waverly, Va, and James Clary (Elonda) of Surry, Va.; one sister Evangelist Bernice Holmes of Surry, VA; 30 grandchildren,49 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grand children; 2 devoted friends Dorothy Ricks and James (Ricky) Thomas; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will truly be missed by all.
