Ruth Jeanette
Mason
December 2, 1950 – May 3, 2025
Elder Ruth J. Mason transitioned from this life on May 3, 2025 at 12:03 a.m. at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. She was born to the happy union of Edward T. & Veola R. Taylor who preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, James Mason, one daughter Candace Jeanette Johnson whom she loved dearly; one stepdaughter, Shakia Lane (William Sr), one stepson, James Mason III, two grandchildren, William Jr and Evan; four sisters, Beatrice Dawson, Hester Jones (Joe), Effie Scott, Gloria Taylor-Harris; three brothers, Joe Taylor (Viola), Paul A. Taylor (Patricia), Pastor David Taylor (Dr. Laura); Edward Jr. (who also preceded in death); one uncle, Willie Thomas and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and friends.
She graduated in the Class of 1969 from Central High School in Sussex County, Virginia, and went on to further her education at St. Paul College in Lawrenceville, VA, where she graduated with a BS Degree in Education and studied MA counseling at Central Michigan University. She retired after 43 years of teaching in the Richmond Public School System. Ruth loved the Lord with all her heart and was faithful to the Ministry! She was ordained as an Elder at Tower Ministries, where she served faithfully in many capacities for over 40 years!
Ruth was a member of Signs & Wonders Ministries under the leadership of Pastor David & Dr. Laura Taylor, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail. During her tenure at SWM she served as a prayer warrior, outreach ministry team, CHASM Volunteer, and wherever she was needed to support the ministry. She was an avid Community Worker and also served as a YWCC member under the Leadership of Pastor Ruth I. G. Moore of Tower Ministries, Richmond, VA; the Young Women's Christian League; and Delta Sigma Theta. She was always looking for an opportunity to serve and bless someone with her smile and kind words. Her laugh was infectious!
She will be sadly missed by us all!
