Obituary

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4

Ronnie Eugene Taylor Sr. "Bear" of 29350 Lobb Shop Road, Waverly, Virginia was called to his eternal home at Tri Cities Hospital Hopewell, Virginia on February 16, 2025.  He was born in Yale, Virginia on February 27, 1957, to the late Walter B. Taylor and Juanita Brown Taylor.  He attended Sussex Central High School and later graduated from St. Louis High School in Waniawa, Hawaii in 1977.

He professed his faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and fellowshipped at Greater Hickory Hill Baptist Church.

Ronnie was retired from the United States Army with 13 years of Service.  Ronnie was a former employee with Federal Civil Services as a Federal Police Officer, Waverly Health and Rehabilitation Center and GardaWorld Security.

Ronnie was a father, a grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. (Joe) and Juanita B. Taylor; aunt, Deaconess Marcia B. Young; uncles, Willie Taylor (Bob), Richard Lou Jones Sr. and Otis Brown Jr. (Tucker); grandparents Walter and Estelle Taylor and Otis and Isabelle Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Ruqayyah Veronica Taylor of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons, Ronnie Eugene Taylor Jr. of Las Vegas. Nevada and Raphael Akeem Taylor of Honolulu, Hawaii; two grandsons, Cameron and Noah Taylor of Las Vegas, Nevada; three brothers, Larry (Jacqueline), Jerry and Timothy Taylor of Waverly, Virginia; two sisters, Patricia T. Jordan of Dallas, Texas and Tonya T. Reese of Hopewell, Virginia; nephews, Larry Coleman, Jerry Williams, Ronnie Jordan and Ricky Reese Jr.; nieces, Pattie Stennett, Patrice and Ronni Jordan, Kikki Cargill, and Racine Jordan of Dallas, TX and several great nephews and nieces, cousins and friends, especially the friends and family of West 40 and West End of Waverly, Virginia, Aunt Queen Brown, Uncle Rev. Edward Young; great aunts, Daisy Jackson, Everlina Seaborne and Min. Nancy Johnson, Hester Hall and Eunice Young; great uncles, Elder James Young, Rev. Moses Brown and Philip Brown; and devoted friends, James Coleman, Milton Dennis, Floyd Smith (Smoke) and Rev. Felton Turner and ex-wife, Roxan Bradley Taylor.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Greater Hickory Hill, 19285 Hickory Hill, Road, Yale, Virginia, Rev. Dr. Joe Henry Caple, Pastor and Elder Ricky Reese Jr, Eulogist.  Interment will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Horton Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Virginia.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, February 25, 2025 at Peace Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia.
