Reverend Lloyd
Haskett Sr.
June 2, 1954 – October 18, 2025
The Reverend Lloyd Haskett Sr., age 71, of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Born June 2, 1954, in Surry County, he was the fourth of seven children of the late Ernest and Annie Bell Haskett. Raised in the church, he developed a lifelong faith that guided every part of his life. After graduating from Westside High School in East Orange, New Jersey, he worked in grocery management and at Jersey Millworks in Newark before relocating to Vienna, Georgia, in 1989. There, he joined Bethel Baptist Church, where he was ordained as a deacon and later called into ministry.
In 2002, Rev. Haskett answered God's call to preach and was ordained in 2003. He earned a Bachelor's in Theology and Bible Studies and a Master's in Theology and Counseling from Canterbury University. He served faithfully as Associate Pastor at Bethel Baptist Church and Assistant Pastor at Camp Creek Baptist Church in Unadilla.
Following divine inspiration, he founded the Brotherly Love Nursing Home Ministry, devoted to bringing comfort, prayer, and the Word to the elderly and homebound. Guided by Leviticus 19:32, "Show respect for the elderly," he often said, "The real ministry is outside the church."
Rev. Haskett is survived by his sons Lloyd LaDell Haskett Jr. (Monique) and Kareem Haskett (Robin); siblings Connie Spratley (Richard Spratley III) and Alton Haskett (Shan); five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; his companion Blanche Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
