Pastor William Daniel Thompson Sr "Frosty" passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, hard work and devotion to Family and Friends.

He was known by those who loved him as a man of integrity, generosity and quiet strength. His memory will live on in the hearts of family members, friends and all who knew him.

William served as Pastor of Jerusalem Baptist Church in South Hill, Virginia for 22 years. He later founded and Pastored Faith Baptist Church in Waverly, Virginia in 2011, leading his Family and others to Christ.

He was born and raised in Surry County. He was a Certified Crane Operator. He worked for Surry Nuclear Power Station in Surry for 40 years as a Crane Operator. He owned and operated W & P Construction Company and Thompson & Son Crane Service for 20 years. He loved and was very passionate about teaching individuals to become a Certified Crane Operator.

He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife Pearl Thompson of 53 years, who walked by his side daily. He is also survived by a son, William (Mary) Thompson Jr. of Spring Grove; his grandchildren, Darius of Spring Grove, VA, Christopher of Pennsylvania, PA, William Thompson IV (BeBe), and William Thompson (Joy) of Spring Grove, VA. He also leaves behind a brother Melvin Thompson of Surry, VA; three sisters, Patsy Thomas, Shirley Frazier and Barbara Thomas all of Surry County, VA; sisters-in-law, Flossie Bailey of Williamsburg, VA, Rev. Clarenctene Jones of Hopewell, VA; brothers-in-law, Robert Shaw of Petersburg, VA, Charlie Shaw (Barbara), Carl Shaw (Ruth) of Spring Grove, VA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Wake will be 4:00pm - 6:00pm Friday, March 13, 2026 at Faith Baptist Church, 2447 Martin Luther King Highway, Waverly, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:00am on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at First Baptist Church Claremont, 11342 Colonial Trail West, Spring Grove, Virginia, Reverend Bobby L. Stone, Eulogist.  Interment will follow at the Shaw Family Cemetery.
