Orris C.
Crocker
May 10, 1946 – September 22, 2022
When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and what He has done for me, my soul cries out, "hallelujah" praise God for saving me.
A heart of gold stopped beating, two shining eyes at rest, God broke our hearts to prove He only takes the best. On Thursday, September 22, 2022, God in His infinite wisdom, called home our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Orris Carlean Stith Crocker. She was born on May 10, 1946, in Sedley, VA, to the late Albert and Margaret Stith. She received her early education in the Southampton County School System. She earned her Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development from John Tyler Community College, Chester, VA. She touched many young lives as an employee with Sussex County Public Schools for twenty-one years.
At an early age, Orris began her Christian journey at Union Hill United Church of Christ, Sedley, VA. She later joined Triumph in Victory Christian Church, Wakefield, VA. She served as Deaconess, Pastor's Aide Leader, Choir Member, Church Clerk, and Treasurer for many years. She was the founder of the Cherri Dowell Scholarship Fund, annually awarded to youth in Sussex County and the surrounding area.
Orris had a love and passion for designing stunning floral arrangements and decorated numerous weddings and other events for family and friends. She was a member of Helena Chapter #110 Order of Eastern Star of VA, PHA, and the Sussex County Senior Citizens of Southeastern Virginia. She was extremely active in several cancer awareness fundraisers and projects to include the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Orris leaves to cherish a devoted husband of 48 years, Linwood Crocker, Sr.; two sons, Keith Crocker, Sr. (Priscilla) of Sedley, VA, and Linwood Crocker, Jr. (Prenda) of DeWitt, VA; one step-daughter, Joan Riddick of Chesapeake, VA; four grandchildren, Kierra Crocker, Keith Crocker, Jr., Peyton Crocker, and Camryn Crocker; one sister, Margaret Yvonne Warren; three brothers, Albert Windell Stith (Arlean) of Sedley, VA, Joseph Allen Stith (Edna) of Norfolk, VA, and George Russell Stith of Newport News, VA; special cousin, Mary Magdalene Stringfield; goddaughters, Nikeenah Dockery, and Linat Ellis; devoted friend, Valarie Ricks; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Please keep the Crocker Family uplifted in prayer.
