Mrs. Nannie Mae Dillard Williams 96, of 4188 Newville Rd, Waverly, Va. was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va. Nannie "Piggy" was born in Sussex County, Va. on August 19, 1919 from the union of Earnest Dillard and Nannie Mae Parham. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Plank Road Baptist Church in Waverly Va. Piggy as they called her was a faithful member of her church attending regularly until her health declined. She served as a choir member, a Deaconess and as the Mother of the Church.
Piggy received her early education at Plank Road Elementary School she could take you back to the beginning and the end of those days. The good times and bad times and her classmates. She grew up on the farm doing all types of farm work and had some of everything to eat. In her last days she got tired of everything, especially vegetables, meat and etc.
Nannie was preceded in death by her three sons, Nathaniel Williams, Jr., Harold Gene Williams and Deacon James Langston Williams; her daughter, Rosa Mae Williams and her husband, Nathaniel Williams, Sr. and her sister, Ellen Otelia Dillard.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a step-son, Deacon James Edward Williams (Cora), a son, Ernest Lee Williams, Sr.; two daughters, Katherine Vernice Williams and Barbara Louise Williams all of Waverly, Va.; a daughter-in-law, Merceil Gant; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, relatives, cousins and friends to include a special and dear friend, Deacon Edward Turner.
A funeral service for Nannie Mae D. Williams will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Plank Road Baptist Church, Waverly, VA, Rev. Dr. George O'Neil Urquhart, Pastor. The interment will follow at the Church Cemetery.
Family and Friends will assemble at 10:15 the residence, 4188 Newville Rd, Waverly, VA on the day of service.
