Mr. Michael Gray, 65, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, unexpectedly at his residence at 319 Pine Street, Waverly, Virginia. He was born on August 29, 1956, to the late Madison Gray and Cynthia Gray Barrow.

Michael was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1974. He was quiet, kindhearted, and easy-going. He loved his radio, playing old school music and his favorite group was the O'Jays. His favorite football team was the Bengals. Michael served two enlistments in the United States Navy. He worked for Gray Lumber Company and Newport News Shipyard. He also enjoyed doing carpentry work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father, Madison Gray, mother, Cynthia Gray Barrow, stepfather, John Barrow, brother, Donald L. Gray.

Michael leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Alicia Gray (N. Chesterfield, VA) and Michael Briggs (Stony Creek, VA), two grandchildren Da'Zhanique and Nehemiah, four sisters, Barbara Gray Waters, Phyllis Gray Johnson (Michael), Theresa Gray Jones (Clarence), Sandra Gray, three brothers, Frank Gray(Barbara), Madison Gray (Darlene) and Efferem Gray, four stepsisters, Diane Langford (David), Fleetwood Gaines, Kimberly Cooper (Theodore) and Helene Barrow, great aunt, Marianne Jones, devoted niece, Freshena Gray, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Public Viewing will be 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at Peace Funeral Home.  A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:30 pm Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home Chapel, Waverly, Virginia, Rev. Eldridge Lucas III, eulogist.  Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Waverly, Virginia.
