Obituary

Mrs. Marie Curtis Parker was born April 6, 1939, the middle daughter of the late Proctor and Mary Curtis, in Waverly Virginia. God sent his receiving angel and called her home to eternal rest on Friday February 6, 2015, after an extended illness. Known as "Re" to family and friends, she was a dedicated wife and devoted mother, who did all things in unconditional love to care for her family.

Marie completed her education at the Sussex County Training School in Waverly and went on to work in various industries in the local area. She was baptized at and became a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Waverly, always continuing to 'talk to the Master' and encouraging others to do the same. In the community Marie was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Naomi Chapter 127 and member of the Waverly Friendship Social Club.

She leaves to cherish with special memories, a loving husband of 53 years Joseph E. Parker Jr., three devoted daughters Leishia Parker (Tony), Marietta Myrick (Tyrone) both of Prince George, VA and Michelle Parker of Waverly, one loving grandson Miles Myrick of Prince George, two sisters, Elaine Johnson and Tammy Farlow (Kevin) of Philadelphia, PA, a brother-in-law, James (Barbara) of Richmond, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins (one devoted Lou Taylor of Waverly). Marie was preceded in death by one brother, Caldon Curtis and one sister Trula Curtis Norwood.

Celebration of Life Services for Marie Curtis Parker will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 1pm, at the First Baptist Church 315 Church Street, Waverly Virginia with the Rev Dr. Ronald C. Taylor Pastor Officiating. Interment will follow at the Waverly Cemetery.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 7pm to 8pm at Peace-Bland Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, 804-834-2219.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the residence, 433 Bank St., Waverly, VA 23890, 804-720-1340.
