Lula Jane
Holloway
February 11, 1935 – February 27, 2022
Lula Jane Holloway, 87, was born on February 11, 1935, to the late Vandy, Jr. and Bernice Stringfield. She transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at her residence in Wakefield, VA. She fought a good fight knowing that the Lord was with her and finished the race on her terms.
She was affectionately known as "Snookie" by her family and friends. A woman of strong faith and strength. She loved the Lord and her family immensely, with a special admiration for her great-grandchildren; JaKai Green, Messiah Sumler, and Amyia Taylor. She will truly be missed by the family.
Lula was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and served in the Missionary Choir, Hospitality Ministry, and Missionary Ministry until her health failed. She loved Oak Grove Baptist Church and adored Pastor and First Lady Holloway.
She retired from Steven Kent after over twenty years. After retiring, she was a caregiver to many and loved to travel in her later years. She enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, watching television, and talking on the phone with her sister(s) daily. Everyone who knew her knows that she was quiet yet feisty, petite yet strong, challenged yet resilient. She never filtered her words when she spoke to you; you knew just where you stood.
Lula was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joshua E. Holloway, Sr; grandson, James A. Lane Jr.; brother, Thomas Stringfield, Sr. and sister, Esther Stringfield.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: one son, Joshua Holloway, Jr. (Nancy); five daughters, Rosa Brown (Roger), Linda Hardy (Clarence), Annie Parham, Michelle Bailey (Aubrey), and Wanda Lane; two brothers, Barbie Stringfield and Calvin Stringfield; four sisters, Corine Coy, Eva Kearney, Ernestine Harris, and Gloria Faltz; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gladys Porter; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; devoted friends; Ida Greene, Laverne Stith, Gladys Stringfield, and Mater Williams.
Public Viewing will be 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Friday, March 4, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.
