On April 3, 2021, Mrs. Lorraine Barnes transitioned from labor to reward at Waverly/Accordius Healthcare, Waverly, VA.  Lorraine Barnes was born on May 31, 1939, the late Bertha Edmonds and the wife of the late Edward Lee Barnes.

Lorraine was employed with Econo Foods, Fort Lee, Virginia until her retirement in 2012.   She liked to travel and take trips and enjoyed visiting yard sales until her health declined.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Lee Barnes, and two sons-in-law, Melvin Speaks, and Leon Smith.

She leaves to cherish her memories five daughters, Barbara Edmonds of Hopewell, VA, Mildred Speaks (late Melvin Speaks) of Newark, NJ, Cynthia Smith (Late Leon Smith) of Richmond, VA, Deborah Edwards of Waverly, VA, and Thelma Kabir (Charles) of Newark, NJ; thirteen grandchildren, Chemae Williams(Marcus), Monique Wilson, Sheree` Edwards, Joseph Carter, Tameika Edmonds, Maurice Carter, Vanessa Carter, Teneshia Edmonds, Shana Mitchell, Erik Mitchell, Veronica Carter, Deanna Speaks, Quashaun Newsome; one grand goddaughter, Terry Smith; thirty great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Braddy and Logan Moses.

A Celebration of Life will be 12Noon Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Union Baptist Church, 5962 Laurel Springs Road, Spring Grove, VA 23881  Rev. Leroy Evans, Eulogist.  Interment at Mount Moriah Church Cemetery, Waverly, VA.
