Mr. Leslie Turner of 913 Covington Court, Waverly, VA 23890, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Southside Regional Medical Center.

Leslie was born April 10, 1943 in Waverly, VA to the Late John and Minnie Turner. He was educated in the Sussex County School System.

Leslie worked in the Logging Industry and at the Seward and Luggage Company in Petersburg, Virginia before moving to Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 21, where he lived for more than 21 years. After returning to Waverly, Leslie became employed with Seward Lumber Company in Claremont, VA, where he worked until his health declined.

Leslie is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John and Mrs. Minnie Turner; five brothers, James Earl, Mac Arthur, Willie, Horace Jr., and Linwood Turner.

Leslie lives to cherish his memories; five brothers, Leroy(Janice), Edward(Yvonne), Joseph, Wilburt(Sheila) and Ernest(Justin) Turner all of Waverly, VA; one sister, Adrienne Turner of Waverly, VA; four sisters-in-law, Merle Boone of Chuckatuck, VA, Freddie Turner of Suffolk, VA, Britton Turner of Richmond, VA and Lucy Turner of Waverly, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. One devoted cousin, Ernestine of Newark, NJ; devoted childhood friend from "The Goose Alley Community", Jenny Drew, Dorothy Givens of Washington DC and James Givens of Wakefield, VA.

Funeral Services for Mr. Turner will be 2:00pm Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 315 South Church Street, Waverly, VA. Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery. Viewing from 10:00am – 6:00pm Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Peace Funeral Home.
