On May 18, 2021, the Lord called our brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Leroy 'Lil Bro' Johnson, away from this earthly dwelling to a place where he can now breathe easily. Leroy had been receiving care at the Colonial Heights Nursing and Rehabilitative Health Care Center in Colonial Heights, VA. He was a lifelong resident of Waverly, VA until moving to Petersburg, VA, to live with his devoted niece and caregiver, Catherine Crocker Bolden.

Leroy was born August 9, 1945, in Waverly, Virginia to the late Chelsea T. Johnson and Ruth Elizabeth Williams Johnson. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd, and Walter Johnson, and one sister, Addie Rebecca Johnson Crocker.

Leroy was educated at the Sussex County Training School . As a faithful member of Zion Hill Pentecostal Holiness Church of Christ, in Waverly, VA, he served as one of the lead singers of the Zion Hill Male Chorus until his health declined. He had a profound love for music and was never hesitant in sharing his gift, singing songs such as " When They Ring Those Golden Bells ", " Trouble In My Way " and " I'm On The Right Road Now ".  The majority of his life was spent working in the farming industry.  He loved outdoor activities, especially lawn care, which he performed with great pride.

Cherishing his memories, he leaves a devoted brother, Chester Johnson, Waverly, VA; devoted sister, Doretha Johnson H. Giles, and brother-in-law, Bishop Willie Giles, Jr., Suffolk, VA.

Mourning his loss is a host of loving nieces and nephews and many dear friends both far and near. His devoted Pastor and friend, Pastor Willie T. Williams, Sr., Portsmouth, VA; devoted nephew, Wyatt "Buddy" Hamlin, Suffolk, VA; former employer and close friend, Mr. Leroy Byrd, and Mrs. Jeanette Sumler, Waverly, VA, will also miss him dearly.

Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Zion Hill Holiness Church 4424 Spring Branch Road, Waverly, VA 23890

Public Viewing will be 11:00am - 5:00pm Monday, May 24, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home.
