Laverne Perry, 57, entered into eternal rest at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, on Aug. 5, 2013. She entered this life on Sept. 6, 1955, to the late Mother Ida Mae (Crutcher) Perry and to the late Pastor George James Perry Sr.
Laverne attended Sussex Central High School during her youth. In her early adult life, she had two children, the late Antoine Perry and the late Brandon Perry. She spent the majority of her adult life at the Waverly Rehabilitation Center due to her illness.
Laverne leaves six siblings to cherish her memory: Windy Perry Chambliss (Garland), George Perry Jr., Sylvia Perry Harrison (Ronald), Carlton Perry (Kimberly), Glenn Perry (Satonya), and Vanessa Perry. Her brother, the late Elder Clinton Perry, preceded her in death. Laverne also leaves behind a host of nieces; and nephews; cousins; friends; and church family to cherish her memory. Laverne's smile and sweet spirit will remain in our hearts forever.
The homegoing celebration for Laverne Perry will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at The Greater Shiloh Temple Miracle Center, 928 W. Main St., Waverly. A public viewing will be available today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Peace-Bland Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Ave., Waverly. Family visitation will take place today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the home of George Perry Jr., 28960 Sussex Drive, Waverly.
