September 29, 1954 – January 14, 2022
On Friday, January 14, 2022, the Lord called LaJuan "Lollipop" Baines home. She was born in Washington, DC, and moved to Surry County when she was very young and grew up in Wakefield, Virginia before graduating from Sussex Central High School and settling in Waverly, Virginia to raise her family. LaJuan was a devoted member of Rising Star Deliverance Center in Waverly, Virginia, and retired from Southside Virginia Training Center in Petersburg, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 40 years McCoy Baines and her parents Gurley and Cora Young.
LaJuan leaves to cherish her memory sons McCoy "Monnie" Baines (Cynithia) of Wavery, Virginia, Brian Baines (Tanisha) Yorktown, Virginia, and daughter Kimberly Baines of Waverly, Virginia. She also leaves behind several grandchildren McKayla and Brianna Baines of Waverly, Tavion and Tirey Baines of Waverly, and Brenden Baines of Yorktown. Additionally, her sister Faye Young of Hopewell as well as her Brothers Gregory, Keith, and Edward Young of Washington, DC are here to continue to celebrate her life. LaJuan also leaves behind nieces, Sherry Young, Sherita Young, Tiffany Burns, Crystal Young, and nephews Tyrell Young and Brady Young, sister-in-Law Lia Wilkins, Aunts Sarah Claiborne, and Donna Davis, and uncle her George Young. Her devoted friends Evangelist Ella White, Christina Urquhart, and Dorothy Harris are also here to remember her life.
Public Viewing will be Noon - 6:00 pm Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home.
Graveside Service will be 11:00 am Monday, January 24, 2022, at Waverly Cemetery where LaJuan will be laid to rest beside her husband McCoy.
Flowers are welcomed, however, your support of the American Diabetes Foundation in her memory is also appreciated.
