Obituary

On September 17, 2022, our beloved Kenneth Manning, departed this life, at his home in Waverly, VA, to be with our savior. Kenneth was born on June 20, 1955, to the late Joseph and Thelma Manning. Kenneth received Jesus as his Lord and Savior early in life. He was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church (Petersburg, VA) but when his health declined, he traveled a shorter distance to attend Calvary Community Church of Wakefield, VA.

He graduated from Sussex Central High School in 1973 and enlisted in the United States Army directly after. Upon returning home, he moved to Washington, DC, where he attended Strayer University and began working for the Bureau of Engraving. Shortly after he began his career at Giant Food Stores, from where he would retire after more than 30 years as store manager. After serving as store manager, he returned to Waverly to open a convenience store, which he named lovingly after his daughter, "Libby's Place".

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph, and Thelma Manning; sisters, Sandra Barrow and Joyce Manning Hopkins.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Olivia "Libby" Nichole Manning of Bowie, MD, and grandchild, Raven Nichole Felder; sisters, Glenice Smith and Constance Holloman (James) both of Chesapeake, VA, Terry Ellis (Rev. Audie) and Robin Johnson (Clyde) both of Waverly, VA; brothers, Joseph Manning (Cora) of Chesapeake VA, Arthur Taylor (Dorothy) of Richmond, VA. and Donald Manning of Portland, OR; devoted friend, Caprina Johnson; devoted nephew, Malcolm Manning; his two favorite girls Nessee Gay and Diane Taylor, his childhood friend Roland Parham, Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
