Mr. Kenneth Wayne Johnson, Sr. entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Sentara Obici Hospital. Kenneth was affectionately known to his family as "Wayne" and to many of his friends as "Kenny". He was born on December 29, 1963, to the late Thurman and Eleanor Johnson.
Wayne was a 1982 graduate of Surry County High and was a member of the marching band. After high school, he was employed with Newport News Shipbuilding and Carroll's Foods for a number of years. Over the course of years, he became a truck driver and was a loyal employee at Cowan System in Baltimore, Maryland until his death. Wayne is remembered for his many talents and hobbies which included photography, deejaying, traveling, buying the latest gadgets, and roller skating. Above all, he is remembered for his infectious smile and his affinity for his family and people. His jovial personality never allowed him to meet a stranger, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Alexandria Johnson of Dendron, VA. His children, Tiana Hudgins of San Diego, CA, Kenneth "Junior" Johnson, Jr. of Petersburg, VA, stepdaughter Mykala Allen of Dendron, VA and his granddaughter, Jordan Deloatch of San Diego, CA; one sister, Yolanda "Yvette" Blunt (John Sr.) of Dendron, VA; nephew, John Blunt Jr. (Cassandra) of Dinwiddie, VA; niece, Angela Henegar of Copperas Cove, TX; father-in-law and mother in law, Alexander and Belinda Askew; two brothers-in-law, Lorenzo Battle and Terrance Askew, all of Smithfield, VA.
He is also survived by two aunts, Mildred Swilling (Gregory) of Bridgeport, CT, Nancy Mason of Dendron, VA; three uncles, Dennis Mason (Mae) of Wakefield, VA, Karl Mason (Juanita) of Dendron, VA, and Earl Mason (Alice) of Hampton, VA. Two great aunts of Richmond, VA, Celia Robertson, and Norma Lipscomb, and a host of great-nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Public Viewing for Mr. Johnson will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, February 5, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service for the immediate family will be 12Noon, Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Chapel of Peace Funeral Home.
