Mrs. Katherine L. Faltz, affectionately known as "Kat or Kathy" of Wakefield, Va., died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on December 27, 2015, at the age of 70.

She was born January 9, 1945, in Wakefield, Va., the daughter of the late John Henry Branch and Clara V. Stringfield (Nee Parker). She was the oldest of four siblings. On January 11, 1964, she married Lawrence Faltz and of that union three children were born.

Katherine was educated in the Sussex County School System. She worked at the Smithfield Packaging Company in the years prior to her migration to Newark, N.J.; where she worked for the State of New Jersey until she returned to Virginia.

Katherine was funny, feisty, and smart and didn't mind telling you what she thought. She loved to travel, shop, and care for her numerous plants, enjoyed interior decorating.

Katherine was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jerome Faltz; her brother, Arthur Parker; and her father, John Henry Branch.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Lawrence Faltz; son, Darren Faltz; daughter, Katrina Faltz; mother, Clara V. Stringfield, all of Wakefield, Va.; sister, Hazel Long (Dale) of Danville, Va.; brother, Ronald Parker (Twainya) of Cieblo, Texas.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. January 2, 2016, at Union Hill United Church of Christ, located at 16192 Union Hill Road, Sedley, Va. The interment will follow at Union Hill United Church of Christ Cemetery and repast will follow immediately in the church dining hall.
