Mother Deaconess Juanita Brown Taylor of 29350 Lobbs Shop Road Waverly, Virginia was called to her eternal home at VCU Medical Center Richmond, Virginia on September 22, 2021. She was born in Yale, Virginia on February 10, 1938, to the late Otis Brown Sr and Isabelle Jones Brown. She attended Sussex County Training School, Waverly, Virginia.
She professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and joined Hickory Hill Baptist Church now Greater Hickory Hill Baptist Church, Yale, Virginia. She served as Mother of the Church, Deaconess, former president of the Missionary Circle, and former member of the hospitality committee. Juanita loved the Lord, her church family, and her family and friends.
Juanita was a retired housekeeper of 30 plus years at Holiday Inn, Petersburg, Virginia. She had a sweet spirit, a loving heart, and a beautiful smile. Her favorite song was "There is a Bright Side Somewhere". Juanita's favorite pastimes were working on word search puzzles and talking on the telephone with her family and friends.
She was also a member of the Eastern Sussex County Senior Citizens Association. Juanita was blessed to have an extremely huge family. Juanita was preceded in death by her sister Deaconess Marcia B. Young and her brothers, Otis Brown Jr and Emmitt Jones, brothers-in-law, Willie Taylor "Bob" and Richard Jones Sr; aunts Viola Vaughan, Dora Lane, Edith Sills, Mabel Brown, Louise Urquhart, Carrie Griffin, Blanche Dillard, Zelma Gilliam, Maria Perkins, and Alice Harris; Uncles, Alfred Brown, Amos Brown, Willie Brown, Joe Nathan Brown, Waverly Jones, Joel B. Jones, and George Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Taylor "Joe" and she leaves to cherish her precious memories four sons, Larry (Jacqueline), Ronnie, Jerry (Cheryl), and Timothy; two daughters, Patricia, and Tonya (Ricky); grandchildren, Pattie, Patrice, Ronnie, Kikki, Ruqayyah, Ronnie Jr, Raphael, Larry, Ronnie Jr, Racine, Jerry, and AJ; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Aunts, Daisy Jackson, Everlina Seaborne, Nettie Lee and Nancy Johnson; uncles, Elder Moses Brown, and Philip Brown Sr; sister-in-law, Queenie Brown and bother, Edward Young, devoted friends, Ruth Graves and Mrs. Susie Harrison.
Public Viewing will be 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.
A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be 1:00 pm Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Greater Hickory Hill Baptist Church, 19285 Hickory Hill Road, Yale, Virginia 23897, Rev. Dr. Joe Henry Caple, Pastor, Minister AJ Reese, Eulogist.
