JOYCE ARNETTE TAYLOR was born to the late Pearlie Harris on July 9, 1958, and became the adopted daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred Taylor. She departed this life on October 13, 2023, at her residence.

At an early age, she joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Waverly, VA, where she served in several auxiliaries including the missionary ministry, youth ministry, women's ministry, choir, back to school ministry and was Sunday school teacher, president of the community Christian women's ministry of Carsley, VA, member of the hospitality committee, and a vacation Bible school teacher.

Joyce was a free-spirited person and shared her love with those around her especially those who were very close to her. Joyce had a special love for her son and granddaughter.

Joyce was excited about her relationship with God, and she would often talk about her love for God.

In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, and playing cards.

She had a passion for taking care of others which led her to becoming a home health care aide.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Pearlie Harris and Joseph and Mildred Taylor

.Left to cherish her memory are her son, Joseph Taylor; granddaughter, Mi'ayla Taylor; her Harris family; special friend, Reverend Shirley Womble; and the Jerusalem Baptist Church family and friends

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00pm Friday, October 20, 2023, at Jerusalem Baptist Church 6612 Carlsey Road, Waverly, Virginia,  Rev. George Brown, Pastor and Eulogist. Interment will follow at Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public View will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Peace Funeral Home.
