August 21, 1950 – July 2, 2019
On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, God called home Josephine E. Jones 68, a Loving Mother, Mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, Aunt, Friend and a True Woman of God. She passed at approximately 6:00pm at OBICI Sentara Hospital, Suffolk, VA. She fought a long battle of health issues that she has now beat them all. Josephine finished her race and closed the final chapter in her earthly book, to begin her new heavenly book with eternity.
Josephine (Jo), was born in Southampton County, Virginia on August 21, 1950. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Marcella D. Turner. She attended Riverside High School in Southampton, VA. She was employed with Virginia Diner in Wakefield, Virginia for approximately, 30 years and her final job was with Stanley Motors in Prince George, Virginia until her health failed in 2005.
Josephine loved going to church and serving the Lord, she was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Wakefield, VA. Josephine was also a dedicated member of the Senior Citizens of Sussex County. She loved to Cook, play bingo, and spend time with her family and friends. She was truly loved by all and she will be surely missed in the community. She was known as the raffle ticket lady that sat in front of Great Value Supermarket and stopped everyone that passed her to sell them a ticket. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Ronnie B. Jones; two sisters Velma Turner and Mary Garrison; and two brothers Floyd and Joseph Turner.
Josephine is survived by her son First Sergeant(RET) Wayne O. Jones(Pamela) of Wakefield, VA; two granddaughters, Cherrelle Jones of Colonial Heights, VA and Chenelle Jones of Wakefield, VA; one brother, James Turner(Evelyn) of Yonkers, NY; four sisters, Jean(Eugene) of Prince George, VA, Willie Mae Elam of Waverly, VA, Christine Clary and Norma Turner of Wakefield, VA; two nephews and one niece who she loved and cared for dearly, 1LT Jabari Turner of Fort Carson, CO, Tiara and Jeremy Boyd of Petersburg, VA; one sister-in-law, Margie Claiborne of Waverly, VA, four brothers-in-law, Oscar Jones Jr of Waverly, VA, Eugene Jones Sr of Prince George, VA, Jerome Jones(Tanika) of Hopewell, VA and Charlie Moody of Homeville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
