John Anderson Stringfield Jr. was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 7, 1947, the second of five children born to the union of Presiding Elder John Anderson Stringfield Sr. and Constance (Watkins) Stringfield.
Despite his diaability as an austic child which was much later diagnoses he was very high functioning. He attended Elizabeth St. School in Worchester, Massachusetts, and later the family relocated to Detroit, Michigan where he attended Washington Careers. He had a great love for children and they seemed to always gravitate toward him, When the family moved to Richmond, Virginia he attended Vocational School and later gained employment at the University Of Richmond in Dining Service.
Throughout his 33 years of employment, he received many awards and recognitions. He was a very dedicated and conscientious employee missing only two days of work when each of his parents died to attend their funeral.
After 33 years of productive service he retired in 2010 from the University of Richmond. He loved to read, watch television and collect electronics. He always helped his sister Vivian with household chores, and community projects. He enjoyed being with family and never forgot a birthday always sending cards to family members and buying Christmas gifts for his nieces and nephews.
John peacefully passed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Johnston Willis Hospital after a brief ilness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. and Mrs John A. Stringfield Sr. and his younger brother Gary Wayne Stringfield.
He leaves to mourn with loving memories his two sisters, Barbara Strignfield Bryant of Detroit, and Vivian Stringfield Richardson of Richmond, Virginia; one brother, David Hurley Stringfield of Richmond, Virginia; six nephews, three nieces, several great nieces and nephews, and a host fo cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00pm Saturday, March 15, 2025 a Peace Funeral Home Chapel, 237 Railroad, Avenue, Waverly, Virginia, Rev. Todd French, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Booker T. Memorial Park, Wakefield, Virginia.
Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, March 14, 2025 at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.
