John P. Jones, 72 of Wakefield, Virginia on Friday, October 21, 2022, peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family.

John Paul was born on August 5, 1950, to the late Willie P. Jones and Minnie B. Jones of Wakefield, Virginia.  He was preceded in death by his wife,  Gloria J. Jones, son, Keith Brooks, both formally of Wakefield, Virginia, and sister-in-law, Connie King-Piggott formally of Williamsburg, Virginia.

John attended public school in Surry County and later Sussex County.  He was employed at Allied Signal in Chesterfield, Virginia, and Brown and Williamson in Petersburg, Virginia until he was drafted into the Military.  Later John found his passion for Construction and his love for driving Tractor Trailers.

John Paul enjoyed boating, fishing, dancing, playing cards, baseball, and being a cruciverbalist.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, John P. Jones Jr. (PJ); one stepson, Kevin Brock; seven grandchildren, Qualisha Taylor, KeShon Brock, Aniya Brock, Zykea Brock, Shakeyera Taylor, Jayani Mason, and Jayceon Mason; one step-granddaughter, Dyamond Wynee; one sister, June J. Myrick(Richard-Deceased)  of Dinwiddie, VA; three brothers, Willie Jones (Cynthia), William Jones, and Wayne Jones all of Wakefield, VA; four brothers-in-law, Rodney Brock(Marion) of Ivor, VA, Marvin King(Renee) of Waverly, VA, Jerome King (Melissa) of Surry, VA and Wesley King Jr. (Pender) of New York; four sisters-in-law, Barbara Johnson (Clennis) of Smithfield, VA, Doris King of MD, Darlene King-Bain (Clinton-Deceased) of Wakefield, VA, and Gloria McCain (David) of Norfolk, VA.  A great-granddaughter, host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and numerous friends.

Public Viewing for Mr. Jones will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, October 28, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home 237 Railroad Ave, Waverly, VA.

Funeral Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Wakefield, VA, Rev. Leslie Holloway, Pastor, Rev. Melvin Taylor, Eulogist.  Interment New Hope Baptist Church, 18183 Old Forty Road Waverly, Virginia
