On December 29, 2021, a beloved grandfather, brother, and uncle entered eternal rest at Sentara Northern, Virginia Hospital.

Joe L. Garrett was born May 18, 1943, to James Turner (Deceased) and Mamie G. Turner. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Felicia M. Garrett, one sister, Betty T. Bates, six brothers, Carlton Turner, Tyrone Turner, Robert Turner, James Turner Jr., Walter Turner, Robert Turner, and one brother-in-law Sidney Gwaltney.

Joe L. Garrett was a native of Waverly, Virginia but resided in Dumfries, Virginia for many years. He was educated in the Sussex County Public Schools. Before moving to Dumfries, he was employed with Grey Lumber Company, and Peace Funeral Home. Joe retired from Prince William County Service Authority with 32 years and 9 months of dedicated service.

Joe L. Garrett loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fishing.

Joe L. Garret leaves to cherish his memories four grandchildren, Octavia Garrett, Da'Jon Mickens of Fredericksburg, VA, Rollanda Garrett of Dumfries, VA, and Shanesha Garrett of Stafford, VA; six great-grandchildren, Da'Jon Marshall, Dupree Anderson, Dy'mere Anderson, Dallas Garrett, Ny'Asia Young, and Korey Jackson; five sisters, Ethel Gwaltney, Janice T. Jones (Mack), Zulean Ruffin(Melvin) all of Waverly, VA, Laverne Turner of Richmond, VA and Gloria Johnson of Petersburg, VA; seven brothers, Ernest Turner(Gladys), Leon Turner(Tasha) all of Waverly, VA, Herbert Turner, Leroy Turners, Junius Turner, Aaron Turner all of Richmond, VA and Oscar Turner of Lawrenceville, VA.  A host of nieces and nephews.

Public Viewing will be 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Friday, January 7, 2022, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, VA.

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, January 8. 2022 at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia
