Hattie B.
Jarrett
May 15, 1938 – May 5, 2024
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing - 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Mrs. Hattie Beatrice Jarrett of Waverly, VA entered eternal rest at Bon Secours SRMC in Petersburg, VA. She was born to the late Chester Jones and Missy Parham Jones on May 15, 1938. Hattie accepted Christ at an early age. She was a former member of Plank Road Baptist Church in Waverly, VA. Her last employment was with the Virginia Department of Transportation for many years. Her hobbies were cooking delicious meals for her family, sewing, collecting dolls, designing their clothing, and decorating her home.
Family gatherings were the most important thing she looked forward to. She was compassionate, loving, and kindhearted. Our beloved mother and grandmother always shared her life experiences of wisdom and encouraged her family to do their best. Her most spoken quote was "What you do in the dark will come to the light."
Hattie was preceded in death by her sweetheart husband George Jarrett (AKA "Little Buddy"), her two brothers Mckinley Jones and Arthur Jones, and her grandson James Jarmont Jarrett, son-in-law, Curtis Ervin Gurley, and daughters-in-law, Dorcas Jarrett and Patricia Jarrett.
She is survived by her best friend, oldest sister, and only living sibling Ms. Emma Jones of Hopewell VA.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her nine children, June Everson (Winfred) of Waverly, VA, Cathy Brooks (Cornelius) of Chesterfield, VA, George Jarrett (Tracy) of Glen Allen, VA, James Jarrett (Inez) of Waverly, VA, Regina Norris (Tommy) of Columbia, SC, Joyce Gurley of Chester, VA, Delores Jarrett of Waverly, VA, Kenneth Jarrett of Waverly, VA, and Calvin Jarrett (Dorcus) of Chesapeake, VA. The Jarrett legacy continues with two generations which include nineteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Her love touched many lives and she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A special thanks to Liberty Dialysis Staff and the Crater District on Aging transportation department for their continuous support.
