Hattie Byrd Davis, 72, of 333 Middle Street Waverly, Va., passes peacefully at Waverly Healthcare & Nursing Home, Sunday, May 15, 2016. She was born November 27, 1943, to the late Zeke Boyd and Connie Mae Boyd of Iuka, Mississppi. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Davis; and her brother, James Counts.
Hattie was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for 40 years. She was a member of the Church Choir, a Deaconess, Missionary and Nurses Aide. Hattie was strong willed Matriarch of her family and was very much loved by her family, church and the community. She was employed at Waverly Nursing Home and did In home care/private duty. She was referred to as T.T. and Hattie Ruth by her nieces, nephews and friends.

Hattie leaves to cherish her memories, two children, Ryan Davis of Waverly and Arnita Davis of Waverly; stepson, Nathaniel Davis (Judy); one sister, Nettie B. Everett of Waverly; two nephews, Eddie Boyd (Elvira) of Waverly and Melvin Lee Davis (Kim) of California; six grandchildren, Carla Reddick of Texas, Carl Reddick (Tyrina) of Georgia, Patrick Griffen of Texas, Keesha Griffin of Waverly, Deon Jones of Waverly and Tony Jones of Waverly; and a host of great-grandchildren; one goddaughter, Tiffany Turner of Dendron; and devoted friends through the community.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Liberty Baptist Church, Waverly, Va. Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Va.
