Gracie L. Bailey of Waverly Health Rehabilitation Center, Waverly, VA, departed this life Monday, January 7, 2019, for her eternal resting place.  She was born on August 31, 1929, to the Late Tommie Ricks and Roberta Ricks of Southampton County.

She was preceded in death by her husband for 47 years Lawrence Bailey, two brothers, John T. Ricks and James Ricks; one sister, Shirley V. Ricks.

Ms. Gracie was a sweet, kind and loving person and would have given you the world and loved her family, friends, and kids.  Before her sickness, she attended Union Hill United Church of Christ in Southampton County since her childhood.  She worked at The Wakefield Foundation and was a foster grandmother for Sussex School System.  She loved cooking, cleaning and being a caretaker.  She will truly be missed by her one and only daughter (Tot) and granddaughter (Puddin).

She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters, Joyce Drew (Cobie) of Waverly, VA, and Ann Robison (Lee) of Norfolk, VA; four grandchildren, Stephanie B. Smith (Terry),  Stephen Bailey of Waverly, VA, Keysha Williams (Gabriel) of Jacksonville, FL, Neka Wilkins (Phillip) of Surry, VA; two great-grandchildren, Jontrell Bailey of Newport News, VA and Kynnidi Bailey of Jacksonville, FL; 12 great-great-grandchildren, one goddaughter, Keonuta Harden (Terrell), Zuni, VA; one sister-in-law, Shirley Taylor, Suffolk, VA; two devoted friends Vizel Turner and Zula Fields of Wakefield, VA, and a host of family and friends.  She will truly be missed by all.  Special thanks to Vesta Park Assisted Living, Petersburg, VA and Waverly Rehabilitation Center, Waverly, VA, family, and friend.

Funeral Service for Ms. Gracie will be 1:00pm , Friday, January 18, 2019, at Lily of the Valley, 411 Oak Street, Waverly, VA, Bishop Marvin Drew, Pastor.  Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, VA.
