On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, Mrs. Gloria Jean Coleman Broughton entered eternal life at Consulate Health Care of Windsor, Virginia.
Gloria was born on July 31, 1952, to the late Walter and Anne Coleman of Waverly, Virginia. She was the first daughter of seven girls.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Waverly, Virginia. She graduated from Central High School, Sussex County, Virginia in the Class of 1969. She attended Norfolk State College. Gloria was employed at Newport News Shipyard in Newport News, Virginia and became a certified electrician. She began her tenure at Costco as a Baker and retired after 30 years of employment. Her passion was cooking, entertaining, traveling and playing lottery tickets. She cherished all her family and friends.
Gloria was married to the late Willie Broughton for 30 years.
Gloria leaves to cherish her earthly memories, one son, Rayton Wilson of Petersburg, VA; four sisters, Gaynell Urquhart of New Orleans, Judy, Kathleen and Violet Coleman of Waverly, VA; one paternal brother, Nathaniel (Gwen) Turner of Bowie, MD; three aunts, Louise Rogers of Richmond, VA, Shirley (Willie)Turner and Annette Cole of Waverly, VA; two uncles, Ernest (Vallie) Barrow and Kenneth (Martha) Barrow of Waverly, VA; two grandchildren, Raytasha and Rayton Garrett; stepson, stepdaughters, and grandchildren; devoted cousins and friends, Carolyn Smith, Gail Carrols, Rita and Yvonne Williams; and host of relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be Wednesday, October 31, 2018, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Funeral Service for Mrs. Broughton will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Empowerment Temple 219 County Drive, Waverly, VA, Rev Terrence Green Pastor, Rev. Dr. Eldridge Lucas III, Eulogizing. Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery, Waverly, VA.
