Obituary

Mother Geraldine Thomas Wilkins quietly slipped into eternal rest on July 19, 2020, at 1129 West Main Street, Waverly Virginia.  On Sunday morning the trumpets of Zion blew and our beloved sister, mother, and grandmother answered her heavenly call.  Her strong will, love for family and friends, and unwavering Faith in God allowed her to live for 90 gracious years. She was known for her ease in frequent conversations with even total strangers, laughter, entertaining sense of humor, constant nurturing of love, and the will to "speak her mind" will be missed by all that loved her.

Geraldine Thomas Wilkins was born December 28, 1929, to the late Willie and Effine Tucker Thomas.  Mother Wilkins was converted and dedicated her life to God under the pastoral leadership of St. Paul's Holiness Church founder and 1 st Pastor Elder James Ricks. She also served under the leadership of all the spiritual leaders of St. Paul's Holiness Church and the current Pastor Elder Willie Thomas Jr. until her death.  She remained faithful to her church until the decline of her health. She would often speak of the first days of the church, the wilderness, noonday prayer services, traveling to church revivals, and especially our Semi-Annual Convention. During the spiritual tenure of Mother Wilkins, she became a member of St. Paul's Holiness Church, Waverly, and Christian Outreach Ministries, Waverly, and she fellowship with St. Mark Holiness Church, Dendron.  She was educated through the Sussex County Public Schools and later married the late Robert Wilkins Jr.  Mother Wilkins held numerous jobs throughout her life from working in the peanut fields as a young girl to her retirement as a Behavior Support Specialist.

Mother Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband Overseer Robert Wilkins Jr., two sons Robert Wilkins III. and Pastor Dennis Wilkins and two grandsons Quincy "Beaver" Wilkins, Dennis "Lee" Wilkins Jr., two great-granddaughters Demetrius Taylor and Sharde' Winford Turner, three sisters Mother Viola Taylor, Melvin Thomas, and Janice Lockett.

Mother Geraldine Wilkins leaves to cherish her memories her loving family Bishop Windy (Bishop Garland) Chambliss of Petersburg, Pastor Shirley (late Overseer Joseph) Ellis, Minister Yvonne (Deacon Edward) Turner of Waverly and Evangelist Gwenda (Robert) Bartley of Washington D.C., her sister Evangelist Betty Thomas two brother Pastor Willie (First Lady Alvina) and Bishop Timothy (First Lady Patricia) Thomas, and two daughter-in-laws Joyce Wilkins-Bonner and Sherry Wilkins.  She also leaves her legacy to be mourned by her 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also to mourn her loss is one sister-in-law Olpheia Graves and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and CNAs of Personal Touch Home Care.
