Our dearly beloved Frances Mae Blackwell entered eternal rest on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, Virginia. She was born October 10, 1947, to the late Hattie and Johnny Jones Sr.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Johnny Jr, and Conrad Jones; one sister, Magalene Jones; and one grandson, Quinton Epps.

Frances was a member of Lily of the Valley Deliverance Center in Waverly, Virginia where she was baptized on August 18, 2011, and was an active member of the Senior Ministry.  She was educated in the Sussex County Training School System.  She was employed with Alfred Storage for many years until her health began to decline.  She worked for various employers, but she favored the Healthcare System where she was employed at Petersburg General Hospital, Private Duty Nursing, and Foster Care at Virginia Baptist Children's Home.

She loved to cook and clean and had a passion for always helping people.  She even sang with the Challender Brothers.  Frances was a free-spirited individual and loved life on the go, which was her freedom.  If you couldn't find her it was because she was enjoying herself with some quiet time.

Frances leaves to cherish her memories her lifelong companion of 47 years, Reginald Winfield "Baby Ray"; two sons, Clinton Hill (Lisa) of Waverly, Virginia and Boris Blackwell of Hopewell, Virginia; two daughters, Michelle Bullock (Gary) and Mona Winfield(Lewis) of Petersburg, Virginia; three brothers, Ernest Edwards (Doretha), Thurman Jones(Alisha) and Walter Jones all of Waverly, Virginia; eight grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 6:00pm Friday, January 26, 2024, at Peace Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be 1:00pm on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Lily of the Valley Deliverance Center, 411 Oak Street, Waverly, Virginia, Bishop Marvin Drew Sr., Pastor.  Interment will follow immediately at Waverly Cemetery, Spring Branch Road, Waverly, Virginia.
