Mr. Floyd R. Parker, 77, of Waverly, Va., departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. His wife, Emma Burgess Parker, was by his side. During his long illness, he was cared for with unconditional love.
Floyd is preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Parker; and sister, Edith Mason. He retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1992 after 30 years of dedicated public service.
Those left to cherish with loving memories are: his devoted wife of 54 years, Emma Burgess Parker; five daughters, Joyce Brown, Jean Byrd (Bryan), Brenda Wilkerson (Curtis), Melissa Taylor (James) and Marcella Gildea (John); one son, Raymond Holsey (Carol; six grandchildren, Alfred Tucker Jr. (Courtney), Brandon Wilkerson, Christopher Wilkerson, Briana Wilkerson, Patricia Holsey and Jayda Byrd; niece and nephews, Ann Mason, Misclesar Mason (Donna) and Bernes Mason; two great-nephews, Larry Mason and Deranda Mason; four great-grandchildren, Colby Tucker, Cassidy Tucker, Essence Wilkerson and Cade Tucker; a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Peace-Bland Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Ave., Waverly, Va. The remains will lie in repose at the funeral home two hours prior to service. Interment to follow at the Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Va. The family will receive friends immediately after interment at the Masonic Hall, Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Va.
