Obituary

Sergeant Rev. Fenton Turner III entered eternal life on May 29, 2025, at his residence in Waverly, Virginia. He was born on December 31, 1950, to the late Fenton Turner Sr. and Mary Alma Mason. He received his education in Sussex County, Virginia. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age in life and became a preacher of the gospel.

Rev. Fenton Turner III entered a journey that changed his life forever when he joined the United States Marine Corps. Rev. Fenton Turner III worked at Honolulu Veterans Affairs and Honolulu Postal Service, where he enjoyed spending his time when he was away from his family in Waverly, Virginia. Fenton later retired in 2016.

Outside of his professional life, Rev. Turner III was known for running marathons back in Hawaii and in Waverly, Virginia, where he called home. Spending time with his family was something he loved.

Fenton was preceded in death by his parents, Fenton Turner, Sr., and Mary Mason Turner; his siblings, Mary Brooks, Doretha Thomas, and Ferman A. Turner Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Pearlie Turner of Waverly, Virginia; two daughters, Shamika Taylor(Marvin Tyler) of Waverly, Virginia and LaSheka Brown (Anthony Jones) of Waverly, Virginia; two granddaughters, Shakeyera Taylor (Craig Moton) and Qualisha Taylor (Derrick Hamlin) of Waverly, Virginia; one grandson, Craig Moton of Waverly, Virginia; one sister, Barbara Clanton(Ivory) of Waverly, Virginia; one brother Eddie Turner of Waco, Texas; one brother-in-law, Howard Taylor of Waverly, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Rose Tabb of Waverly, Virginia and Catherine Taylor of Louisa, Virginia; one uncle, Robert Turner of Waverly, Virginia; three aunts, Mary Tucker of Disputanta, Virginia, Wanetta Turner and Minerva Turner of Waverly, Virginia; extended family, Tanica Winfield of Waverly, Virginia and a host of nieces, nephews to include one beloved Antonio Brooks, cousins and devoted friends to include Emily Marie, Waverly USPS Clerk.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am – 5:00pm, Friday, June 6, 2025, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Liberty Baptist Church, 235 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia, Rev. Bobby Ricks Sr., Pastor, and Eulogist. Interment will follow at Waverly Cemetery, Spring Branch Road, Waverly, Virginia.
