November 1, 1945 – February 27, 2013
On February 27, 2013 God said "Well done, my good and faithful servant, you have fought a good fight." So He dispatched the Angel of Death to her to bring eternal rest to our dearly beloved sister, grandmother, aunt, and spiritual mother Evelyn "Alma" J. Vaughan. She was the daughter of the late Theophilus and Louise "Pinky" Parham Barrow. At a young age, she acknowledged The Lord and was baptized First Baptist Church of Waverly. Later, she was baptized in the name of The Lord at the Lilly of the Valley Holiness Church and received The Holy Ghost under the watchfulness of the late District Elder Clester W. Vaughan.
Evelyn was educated in the Sussex County public school system. She was employed at Masonite Cooperation for several years and later employed at Fort Lee, VA where she retired after 35 years of service.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Elder Leslie J, Vaughan, her son Myron Jackson, her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
Mother Evelyn "Alma" J. Vaughan leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate he life; three sisters- Lousie Rogers (late C.2 Rogers) of Richmond, VA. , Shirley Turner (Deacon Willie) of Dendron, VA., Annette Cole (Melvin) of Waverly, VA. Two brothers Ernest Barrow ( Valerie) and Kenneth Barrow (Martha) both of Waverly, VA. - Two grandchildren Makeitha Crump of Richmond and Lawerence Payton of Philadelphia, PA- Four great-grandchildren, six stepchildren- one very devoted loving stepdaughter Lois Vaughan of San Antonio, TX- A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Special memories will remain in the hearts of Missionary Nettie Everette Hattie Davis and Lawrence Dobie. A special Thanks to SRMC and Waverly Rehabilitation Center
Interment at First Baptist Church of Waverly.
