Obituary

On December 20, 2025, Ethel M. Barrow, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior.

Ethel was born on June 25, 1949, to the late William and Annie Mae Brown Early. From a young age, she accepted Christ into her life and joined Liberty Baptist Church. Ethel received her education in the Sussex County School system and was a proud member of her graduating class.

Spending time with her family and friends brought Ethel immense joy. Her warmth and loving spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, William Early Sr. and Annie Brown Hamlin; her sister, Delores Harris; her niece, Diedre Early; and her grandson, D'Mond Taylor.

Her memory will be forever cherished by her children: Darrell Taylor, Cheryl Taylor, Terrence Vaughan (Deneka Eley), and Samantha Williams; grandchildren: Markeem Moyler, Brittani Taylor, Devontae Bailey, Darrell Taylor Jr., Ayden Taylor, Ari'yanna Parham, Terchera Newby, and CyReke Taylor; her sister, Ann Hamlin; brother, Thomas Early; brother-in-love, Charles Harris; nieces: Katisha Hamlin-Procise (James) and family, Shonda Hamlin and family, and Demetria Early; nephew, Lamar Coleman and Maurice Williams; devoted family and friends: Sylvia Ellis, Glay Clanton, Lena Elder, Carroll Clanton Jr., Curtis Clanton, Barbara Elder, Doris Hamlin, Annie Mae Jones, and a host of lifelong family, friends, and other relatives.

Special thanks to her caregiver Linda Jones, whose kindness and dedication provided comfort every day, and to all of her doctors and therapists who supported her recovery with expertise and compassion.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Liberty Baptist Church, 319 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia, with Rev. Bobby Ricks, Pastor.  Interment will follow immediately at Waverly Cemetery, Spring Branch Road, Waverly, Virginia.
