One quiet day the angel came and took me far away.  But in the stillness of the night, I could almost hear Him say Ernest L. Williams of 29245 Meadowview Drive departed his earthly home, Sunday, August 6, 2023, at his residence.

Ernest was born on August 5, 1947, to the Late Nathaniel and Nannie Williams.

Ernest received his education from Sussex County Public Schools.  He began his occupation at Smithfield Packing Company.  Years later he was employed by Mr. Proctor Peebles.

Ernest accepted Christ at an early age and joined his Family Church, Plank Road Baptist Church, Waverly, Virginia.

Ernest loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.  He had a compassionate and loving heart and helping others whenever he was called upon was a joy to him. Ernest also enjoyed cutting his grass.  God blessed him with the gift of Help in which he graciously worked.

Ernest was preceded in death by one sister, Rose Lee Williams; his son, Ernest Williams Jr.; one stepbrother, Deacon James Edward Williams; three brothers, Nathaniel Williams, Deacon James Langston Williams, and Harold Williams.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memories one son, Edward Grant; one daughter, Tina Williams; one grandson, Darnell Williams; two granddaughters, Anayia, and Mia; wife, Marcia Gnat; two loving and devoted sisters, Katherine Williams, and Barbara Williams; one nephew, Nathaniel (Arlene) Perry; other great nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.  Devoted friends are Dorothy Williams, Richard Giles, Edward and Yvonne Turner, Mildred Smith, Diane Smith, Lonell, Elnora Turner, Trekita, Tonya Smith, and Carlton Perry.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am – 5:00pm Friday, August 11, 2023, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life will be 12Noon Monday, August 14, 2023, at Peace Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia, Pastor Willie Thomas Jr. of St. Paul Holiness Church, eulogist.  Interment will follow immediately at Plank Road Baptist Church Cemetery, Waverly, Virginia.
