Obituary

Ernest Drafous Evans was born on May 7, 1939, in Sussex County to the late Florence Lee Evans "Big Momma" and Kermitt Evans "Big Daddy".  He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Joan E. Conner, she was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a Grace Soldier.

Ernest accepted the Lord at an early age.  He was a member of Union Hill in Southampton County.  Ernest retired from the Waverly & Sussex County Highway State Department with 33 years of Service.

Ernest leaves to cherish his memories, four daughters, Karon Holmes, Wonda Clary, Tabitha Joyner, and Monica; four sons, Troy Joyner (deceased) (Avis) of Newport News, VA, Douglas Clary (Beverly), Anthony Evans, both of Suffolk and Troy Branch (Jackie) of Prince George, VA; two sisters, Mattie Evans "Lean" and Alice Bivens; one brother McCoy Evans, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins,  friends and a devoted friend Wendy Branch.

Funeral service for Mr. Evans will be 11:00am, Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Wakefield, VA
