Mr. Elbert "Cowboy" Burgess of P O Box 478 Waverly, VA departed this life Monday, July 14, 2003, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Elbert was born in Sussex County to the late Elmore S. Burgess Sr and Mrs. Bertha Williams Burgess.

He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Stephanie Nixon of Waverly; a son Neal Nixon of Waverly; three sisters, Shirley Walker(Raymond), Vandra Walker(William) all of Waverly, and Catherine Moore of Washington, DC; two brothers, Elmore Burgess Jr(Judy) and Randolph Burgess(Brenda) all of Waverly, VA; one aunt, Almeta Jones of Richmond, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service 2:00pm,Thursday, July 17,2003 at Peace Funeral Home Chapel. Interment Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, VA.
