Deacon William Elijah Elliott passed away peacefully on the afternoon of April 24, 2024, at the Loving Arms Assisted Living Facility. He was born on May 2, 1927, and was the second child of the late John Arthur Curtis Elliott and Lucy Ann Stewart Elliott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, Arthur Louis Elliott and his sister Florence N. Elliott.

He was joined in matrimony to Eunice Beatrice Blizzard in 1951.

William was wise and possessed a very keen memory. He loved to share his wisdom and memories of people, places and events. A lifelong member of Swan's Point Baptist Church. William accepted Christ at an early age and immediately started working for the Lord. He served as Church Treasurer for twenty-five years and on the Deacon Board for over fifty years, during which time he became Deacon Emeritus. At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of the church.

He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country in WWII, after which he started farming and working at Allied Chemical for over twenty years. He also worked at Brown and Williamson and Virginia Power for several years until he retired in 1992. He was retired for over thirty years during which time he enjoyed hunting and gardening.

To cherish his memory, he leaves his loving wife of 72 years, Eunice Beatrice Blizzard Elliott, his two sons, Anthony Curtis Elliott (Bridget) of Simi Valley, CA and William Garret Elliott (Chenita) of Dendron, VA; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and goddaughter, Adrian Brown Taylor.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, May 3, 2024 at Peace Funeral Home 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00am Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Swan's Point Baptist Church 687 Swanns Point Road, Spring Grove, Virginia 23881, Rev Nathaniel Mitchell, Pastor and Rev. Robert Elliott Jr. Eulogist.

Interment will follow immediately at Swan's Point Baptist Church Cemetery, Spring Grove, Virginia.
