Mrs. Christine G. Hill entered peacefully into eternal life on September 29, 2023, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia after a long illness.  Christine was born to the late William Robert and Estelle Gay on June 12, 1951, in Wakefield, Virginia.  She was the eldest of eight children.  She graduated from Sussex Central High School.

Christine worked in Food Services for many years at The Airfield 4-H Conference Center and later retired from Virginia State University.

Mrs. Hill was a faithful and dedicated member of Mars Hill AME Zion Church.  Christine was a Deaconess, President of the WHOMS, Stewardess Board, and the Choir.  She was head of the Kitchen Staff.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her daughter, Valerie Hill; sister, Mrs. Estelle Thornton; two brothers, Michael D. Gay, and Jonathan I. Gay and a beloved niece, Pamela Thornton.

Christine  G. Hill leaves to cherish her precious memory her beloved and devoted Husband  Elisha P. Hill III; daughter, Stephanie V. Gray of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Tia A. Gray (Vincent), Mandel S. Gray; one sister and devoted friend Rosa L. Gay; three brothers, William Gay Jr, Donald L. Gay, and Melvin E. Gay of Bristol, VA; three aunts, Elsie Robinson, Daisy Pierce and Mary Winn (James); niece, Michelle Gay; two nephews, Jeffrey Gay and Jonathan I. Gay Jr. and a host of other nieces and nephews; seven sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and a host of cousins, family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be 2:00pm on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Mars Hill AME Zion Church Wakefield, Virginia,  Rev. Otis L.  Grant III, Pastor.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday, October 6, 2023, at Peace Funeral Home, Waverly, Virginia.
