Obituary

Mrs. Chantae Lineque Moss-Parson was born on November 5, 1976, in New York City, NY to her parents Johnnie Moss Jr and Marsha Evans Moss.  She departed this life on March 3, 2025, at Tri Cities Hospital, Hopewell, Virginia after a lengthy illness.

Chantae was predeceased by her grandparents, Theodore and Madeline Evans, Johnnie Moss Sr., her mother-in-law, Judy Ellis; aunts and uncles Barbara Moore, Mary Moss, Rebecca Moss, Catherine Carter, Irvin Moss, Walter Moss, and Curtis Carwell; cousins, Jessica Moss and Jarrell Thomas Sr.

Chantae was educated in the Sussex County Public School System and graduated from Sussex Central High School, Class of 1994.  She furthered her education at Tuskegee University, Tuskegee, Alabama.

Chantae married Demetric Parson her husband of 21 years on April 26, 2003.  To this union two daughters were born. DeTaijah Parson and DeKailah Parson, who were the loves of her life.

She was employed with the Commonwealth of Virginia for over 22 years working at Southside Virginia Training Center, Southeastern Virginia Training Center and finally Central State Hospital until her health decline.

As a young girl Chantae began her personal walk with the Lord at Liberty Baptist Church where she was baptized. Chantae was a people person who loved her family and friends unconditionally.  She enjoyed family gatherings with her Georgia, New York and Virginia Family.

Chantae leaves to cherish her sweet memories, her devoted husband Demetric Parson, loving daughters, DeTaijah Parson and DeKailah Parson; devoted parents, Johnnie and Marsha Moss; her sister and best friend, Charnea Holmes (Trevis); grandmother, Nellie Moss; father-in-law, Robert Parson; brother-in-law, Howard Ellis; nieces and nephews, Charkira Langford, Tianna Holmes, Hyleah Chandler (Earon) and Ashton Ellis; her aunts and uncles, Margo Evans, Christina Urquhart, Janice Chaney, Sandra Carwell, Teri & Keri Carwell, Maria Evans, Nellie Moss, Nathanial Moss (Darryll),Paul Evans, Troy Evans (Elizabeth), Dexter Moss and Roy Lee Moss; aunts and uncles-in-law, Phyllis Thomas (Horace), Clinton Scott, Larry Parson, Laura Hamlin, Joyce Anderson; great nieces and nephews, Khloni Bland and Earon Chandler Jr.; her godchildren, Khalil Ransom, Keyera Coleman, Kevin Flowers; godsister, MiZhane Cypress; godbrother, Dean Turner; her cousin, J'Breon Thomas who she loved like a son; A multitude of cousins and other family among them a dedicated cousin, Turon Thomas and his family who faithfully checked on Chantae while she was hospitalized in Richmond, VA; special childhood friends who were like family, Tishay Taylor, Dennis Barrow, Tamara Brown-Jackson, Corey Coleman and all the Dogwood Neighborhood Crew. A Special mother figure in her life Mary Bailey.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00pm Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Liberty Baptist Church, 235 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia, Rev. Bobby Ricks, Pastor.  Interment will follow at  Davis Family Cemetery, Surry, Virginia.

Public Viewing will be 10:00am - 5:00pm Friday March 21, 2025 at Peace Funeral Home, 237 Railroad Avenue, Waverly, Virginia.
